Testing, Testing, 123…

Once we’ve gathered, harvested and checked the seeds, the next step is testing. We want to make sure that they’re viable and will germinate. 

We have an entire space dedicated in our garden to raise seedlings, and we’ve even run out of space there and have many more growing on the roof! We label the pots with the variety and date, plant the seeds, and monitor their progress. This is also how we can learn how long it takes to germinate, and any special steps needed to make the magic happen. 

At any given time, we have 50-100 plants growing in the testing phase, and once they are large enough, we either plant them in our garden or sell them locally.
